According to the need satisfaction theories and Self Determination theory (SDT) they argued human beings continue to engage in activities if any method promise to satisfy motivational needs such as competence, autonomy and relatedness. SDT shows human beings can become motivated in two ways to engage in any task, such that intrinsically and extrinsically. Intrinsic motivation refers to the desire to do a task just because it’s self enjoyable.

Extrinsic motivation refers to achieving and additional outcome such as a reward. The gamified system there can be two types of rewards. That is intrinsic rewards and extrinsic rewards.

By accomplishing the to do list of the day a person can achieve the self satisfaction that yes, I did all the task and the joy of using the gamified application. This refers to the intrinsic rewards where after the completion of task the user has an intangible reward. And in the other hand it can give a user a tangible reward after completing the tasks such a coffee mug, a pen, free gym membership etc to motivate extrinsically.

Further, there are two kinds of users mainly as introverts and extroverts. When a user is selecting an application to be motivated these two kinds of personas will decide whether they shared the achieved goal within the network or not.

Extroverts are directed towards to outside world and introverts are directed towards the self. Extroverts are energized by being around other people and drained by being alone and introverts are opposite — Psychologist Carl Jung’s theory of personality.
